Virgin Trains Xmas Pressie: Free WiFi for all

Posted by James Brindle on December 9, 2010.

On my normal weekly jaunt for work, I hopped onto an as-usual overcrowded Pendolino and as I was only going 2 short stops, was holed up in the vestibule somewhere in cattle class, I thought i’d check my email so opened up my iDevice and was greeted by a lovely splash screen on their WiFi portal page.

What a nice gesture from Virgin, free Wi-Fi throughout the entire train instead of just in First class. Normally, if you’re stupid enough, you’ll pay £6 per hour or if you’re lucky and it works, you can use your Cloud wifi login to get online.

Thumbs up to Virgin for this one, the offer is until February 2011, no doubt it’s an enticement to try and get people to use the wi-fi and get a liking for it hoping that people will pay the premium price.

But yet again, see my post on [intlink id="125" type="post"]inexpensive first class travel on Virgin Trains[/intlink] and get there feeling less like you’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards.
